Letter of Appreciation

Dear Laura Cline,

This class has been extremely beneficial for me as a writer so far. I have always had a passion for writing, and I think that over the last few semesters, so full of  “read and respond”, “read and respond”, “read and respond”, I began to loose that passion, and replace it with indifference. With this class, I’m finally reading stories that I enjoy (I chose this class because of the book requirements), and I’m finally getting the opportunity to put my own opinions into my writing. My eagerness for writing came from simply writing down my thoughts and opinions anyway, so naturally this would restore its appeal for me.
Frankenstein was by far, the most rewarding book I have ever read. I was so scared of the language I thought I’d never be able to understand it. Finishing it got me over a hurdle this semester, and it didn’t event take as long as I thought it would. Once I had it, I devoured it, loved it, and would feel comfortable talking about my views on it with anyone in good conversation.
My biggest challenge so far is only time (as always). Three boys and a husband don’t leave me with much, but somehow I make it work, and when it’s working, I really enjoy it. So frankly, the only thing I want out of the last half of this semester is for it to just keep going the way it’s been going. I get to read my most favorite author in the whole world (Chuck Palehniuk) for the final assignment, so I can only imagine how eager I’ll be to write down some opinions about him and his stories. This is my final English course for my degree, and I’m glad that it’s turning out to be the best one!
Thank You!
Nikki
